Our Bar/Bat Mitzvah students make a commitment to continue their religious education after the ceremony. As a son or daughter of the commandments, these youngsters work toward Confirmation, held traditionally on Shavuot, when we celebrate the giving of the law at Sinai.
The students investigate all aspects of the Jewish life-cycle, our holidays and Holy Days and what it means to be a Reform Jew.
Spending a Shabbat weekend in New York City is an integral part of the learning process at Temple Shalom, visiting museums and absorbing the ethnic flavor of the city. We are the only synagogue in Kentucky to offer this experience.
Support for this trip has been generously provided by a grant from the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence.
