Rabbi Stanley R. Miles celebrated 38 years with Temple Shalom in June, 2016 and was the first full time Rabbi that we had ever known.
Rabbi Stanley R. Miles celebrated 38 years with Temple Shalom in June 2016 and was the first full-time Rabbi that we had ever known. He was born and grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana, and went to college at Indiana University. He later enrolled at Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, received his degree there, and was ordained in 1975; To celebrate 25 years in the Rabbinate he was conferred the degree of Doctor of Divinity (DD) in 2000. He was awarded the title of Rabbi Emeritus to coincide with his retirement.
Rabbi Miles continues to be active in several educational offerings for the community and continues his strong commitment to Tikkun Olam and interfaith activities in Louisville.
Along with his wife, Sheilah Abramson Miles, they have a daughter & family in Louisville and a son and family in Florida. 5 grandchildren bring a sparkle to his eye whenever he thinks about them.
